Health & Safety
An innovative, open and dynamic approach to improving Health & Safety within the construction sector, combined with training and education is at the heart of continuous improvement within the business.
All Tamdown Directors, Managers, Supervisors and Employees recognise and fully accept their responsibilities for Health & Safety.
Our RoSPA Gold Awards and accolades from clients and the HSE are a testament to our passion and commitment for a safe and healthy workforce and construction site.
Our Health & Safety Team bring a wealth of experience to their roles, and it shows, with not only the awards picked up by Tamdown but the case studies both on the HSE and IOSH websites.
Tamdown really are at the forefront of improving Health & Safety within the industry, in line with the HSE’s key aim of improving involvement of the workforce in identifying hazards and finding sensible and workable solutions that will benefit everyone.
Our dedicated and highly experienced team includes our in-house HSQE Manager who carries out regular Site Inspections. Working closely with our clients helps achieve improvements in their Health and Safety performance as well as our own, which is a one of the key reasons our customers come back again and again!
All our Site Personnel are fully CSCS/CPCS qualified and are part of an on-going training programme.
Our Site Supervisors have as a minimum the CITB/CSkills SSSTS (Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme) qualification whilst Contracts Managers and Directors hold the SMSTS (Site Managers Safety Training Scheme) qualification.
Tamdown have invested in behavioural safety with our ‘WorkSmart’ Programme which is an on-going drive for Health & Safety excellence in all that Tamdown do. This has in turn led to Tamdown’s WiSE initiative (WorkSmart Engagement), which is Tamdown’s principle means of driving forward ‘employee led safety’ because we recognise the fact that employees will support what they help create.
As you would expect, Tamdown meets and exceeds all legislative/regulatory requirements and has an excellent track record in terms of reducing serious accidents. Don’t just take our word for it, the executive summary of a report compiled on behalf of our Insurers makes for interesting reading:
- “This is far and away one of the best construction businesses of its type from a Health & Safety Management perspective”
- “The accident record is very good, with the number of RIDDOR reportables virtually at rock bottom”
- “Training is to a high standard, and there are records in place to reflect this. In particular the high standard of the new Safe Systems of Work should be highlighted. These are exceptionally good and provide a clear platform for delivering and evidencing training”
- “The controls in place on site, and the overall level of safety management / compliance observed, were exceptionally good”
