Tamdown completed this contract in Ipswich, Suffolk, for Bellway Homes (Thames Gateway, a phase of approximately 250).
The local authorities for the area, along with the designers and architects, incorporated a sustainable urban drainage system (S.U.D.S.) within the design of all the storm drainage on site. The site is well suited to this method due to the nature of the ground conditions, i.e. hogging / ballast.
We installed the Alderburgh Geo-Cell System to take surface water from all roofs and the car parking areas / driveways are also of porous construction using an open graded D B M tarmac finish or Aqua Priora Paving.
Part of the contract was to construct large swales and detention basins around the perimeter of the developed area to allow for flooding in the event of a one in one hundred year storm event.
